Josh Cohen was born in Chicago Illinois. and raised in Los Angeles, California. The only son of a theatre actor and a concert clarinetist, Josh was always surrounded by the arts. At an early age he developed a strong passion for music and photography. Inspired by Jazz & Rock n’ Roll photo journalists William Claxton and Jim Marshall as well as Fashion/Celebrity photographers Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts and David LaChapelle. Josh’s approach is a combination of both technique and emotion.

“I treat photography much like a jazz musician treats a composition, with emotion and the technical ability to fluently change directions at a moments notice. Knowing the rules is one thing, knowing how to break them is what ignites creativity.”
